The X-ray machine already in the operating room can now create 3D surgical images
Provect AI received FDA 510(k) clearance for software that turns images from a standard C-arm X-ray machine into three-dimensional views during spine and orthopedic procedures.

C-arms are already used in many operating rooms. The problem is that they normally produce flat images, while more detailed 3D views may require a separate CT scanner or expensive specialized equipment. Provect’s software adds that 3D capability to machines hospitals and surgery centers may already own.
For surgical teams that need a clearer view of bones and instruments during a procedure, an existing X-ray machine just became far more useful—without adding another large scanner.

Unitaid and the Clinton Health Access Initiative reached agreements with DeepTek and Delft Imaging to reduce the cost of AI software that checks chest X-rays for signs of tuberculosis. Annual pricing will fall from as much as $12,000 to about $2,500 per X-ray machine. In regions with very few radiologists, cheaper automated screening could help clinics identify more people who need further testing.
🔸Wrong AI advice made mammography readers miss more cancers

A study in Radiology found that breast-screening professionals became less accurate when an AI system failed to flag an existing cancer. Detection sensitivity fell from 71% without AI to 39% with incorrect AI guidance. The readers also spent less time examining areas the system had missed. The study was small, but it shows how easily trusted AI advice can influence human judgment.
🔸Cancer researchers are getting access to 150 million medical scans

Nucs AI partnered with Segmed to use approximately 150 million de-identified medical imaging studies from more than 2,800 healthcare sites. The data will support AI tools that may predict treatment response, study tumors, identify biomarkers, and help match patients with therapies. Training across many hospitals could also reveal whether a model works beyond the location where it was originally developed.

The American Heart Association says wildfire smoke contains tiny particles that can enter the bloodstream. Exposure has been linked to heart attacks, irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, stroke, and cardiac arrest. Heat adds more strain because the heart must work harder to keep the body cool.
Research cited by the association found the risk of a fatal heart attack nearly doubled on days with both extreme heat and high levels of fine-particle air pollution. Older adults, women, and people with existing health conditions may face the greatest danger.
This does not mean every hot or smoky day causes a heart problem. But smoke can travel hundreds of miles, reaching places where the sky may still look clear.
